Economics

 SUBJECT Economics
ADMISSIONS Students should comply with the normal Sixth Form entry requirements. At least a B grade in English and Maths will normally be expected. The course is not highly mathematical but some ability to use and interpret graphs and statistics is needed. You need, as with any Sixth Form course, to be well motivated. Economics is a fascinating subject but is a demanding course. Ultimately an interest in economics and finance is beneficial to study this subject at A-level.
 SYLLABUS

Edexcel Advanced Subsidiary GCE in Economics (8EC01)
Edexcel Advanced GCE in Economics (9EC01)

COURSE The course is assessed by 4 modular examinations, 2 at the end of each year. Each examination involves multiple choice and/or data response questions. The Unit 4 examination also involves an essay. There is no coursework element for this syllabus. The course looks at such diverse topics as supply and demand, inflation, unemployment, international trade and taxation. It is, therefore, of topical relevance, but is not a course in "How to make a million on the Stock Exchange!"
