Choices at A Level
Over 90% of Year 11 pupils normally move on to study at A Level where they are joined by pupils from other schools. The majority of pupils entering the Sixth Form will be expected to take four AS Levels (in most cases examined at the end of Year 12) together with an AS Level in General Studies. The remainder will take three AS Levels and General Studies. In Year 13 all pupils will be expected to take at least three A2 Levels (the second half of A Level) and will continue with General Studies. Some students will continue with four subjects (plus General Studies) at A2 and a small number may discontinue one and take an alternative AS. The opportunity to do this will depend on the constraints of the timetable and on demand. Choices are detailed in the table below.
