GCSE Design Technology (Systems & Control)
This will involve:-
· the study of mechanical systems and using electronics for control
· working in a group to design and build a robot to take part in a competition
· using a range of computer software to study and understand how electronics
are used to control
· design and make a project that uses electronics to control a mechanical
system (worth 60% of GCSE marks)
This course is taken in four periods per week throughout Year 10 and Year 11 and is the ideal foundation for A Level Design & Technology.
GCSE Design Technology (Product Design)
This will involve:-
· the study of Product Design, Graphic Design, Printing and Manufacturing
· a variety of projects ranging from 2D design (CD covers, advertising stands) to 3D modelling (mobile telephones, bottles) using both traditional and
CAD/CAM methods
· a major project that will be designed, made and packaged for the mass market
· this project will be 60% of your GCSE
