GCSE GEOGRAPHY

Geography studies environments and how people live in them.  It explains the location of places and people’s activities in these places.  You will learn to understand the environment and get to know the world (through fieldwork).  You will have the opportunity to study the inter-relationship between people and the environment.

As well as learning the facts, you will develop an understanding of the interaction between the physical landscape and human activity.

 

Geography can offer an understanding of world events and an understanding of environmental issues, valuable qualities in personal and social development as a citizen in a global community.  Geography also provides a sound knowledge base and skills which are relevant to a considerable range of job opportunities

 

The course is examined in two examination papers (one knowledge, one skills) and a coursework project (based on fieldwork undertaken in Y10) worth 25%.
