KS3 Modern Foreign Languages
Pupils are taught French and Spanish in years 7-9 (although those joining the school in year 9 will only be offered French). The textbooks we use ("Metro" for French and "Listos" for Spanish) follow the MFL framework and QCA schemes of work.
The topics studied include: family, home, school, town, freetime, food, shopping, holidays and healthy living. Classes focus on the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
At the end of year 7, there is a day-trip to Northern France where pupils are able to put their language skills into practice.
At the end of year 9, pupils have to choose a foreign language to study for GCSE in years 10 and 11, and in fact many choose to study both. |
